We are a small, fast team of capable engineers specializing in architecture layouts and detailed design of mass-efficient castings and forgings such as gearboxes and motor housings. Our work involves plastics, sheet metal, and bolted joint designs. We frequently collaborate across borders within the drive unit and vehicle teams to ensure rapid development and delivery, exemplified by the Tesla Semi project. What You'll Do

Lead and contribute to the design and development of semi-truck and heavy-duty transmission architectures. Coordinate with vehicle and production line teams for successful assembly and servicing. Work with reliability teams to diagnose, address, and improve designs based on testing and field issues. Develop designs with a focus on design for volume manufacturing, collaborating with Manufacturing Engineering. Own the detailed design of components from concept through sourcing, inspection, and PPAP. Collaborate with analysis and testing teams to define specifications and guide fixture design. Drive project teams to ensure on-time delivery. What You'll Bring

Experience in heavy-duty/Class 8 transmission design, focusing on structural castings. Ownership of system-level design. Proficiency in 3D CAD software, preferably Catia V5. Experience in casting design for volume production. Ability to produce detailed 3D and 2D drawings of castings, forgings, and molded parts. Structural CAE experience at component and sub-system levels, working with CAE specialists. Excellent attention to detail and understanding of GD&T. Strong time management and self-motivation skills.
