Chief Inspector of Signals, Communication & Train Control

in

Rancho Cucamonga, CA

to join our team. The pay range for this position is $160,000 - $175,000. Duties and Responsibilities: *This is a non-exhaustive overview of the job duties for this position. Lead, direct and manage the Wayside Signal, Communications, CIS and PTC and office train control - CADD, PTC, communication, CIS inspections, inspectors, subcontractors (track geometry, rail defect), consultants and inspection processes and practices. Accountable and responsible to ensure FRA/CPUC regulatory compliance and compliance with the SCRRA - Scope Sections 15, 16, 17 SMM, other System SOP's equivalent standards and manuals. Prepare Work Orders for action to correct the non-compliance unsafe poor condition. Review Open Corrective Action Work Orders with the AGM- Signal, Comm. and GM. Prepare and present quarterly reports on inspections, Work Orders to contractor and SCRRA management. Pass written tests, including but not limited to SMM GCOR and on track safety and Hi-Rail territory qualifications. Spends 50% time in field observing and performing inspections, riding head end of trains, checking tests performed by signal maintainers, etc. Regular and consistent engagement, participation and promotion of Herzog’s Culture and its essential behaviors are a requirement for this position. Regular and predictable attendance and punctuality are a requirement for this position. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: High School diploma or equivalent. AA or BS/BA in electrical, computer science or equivalent preferred. Excellent proficiency, including classes, training and certificates in electronics, railway signals, railway communications, PTC, CADD. Continuing education courses and certificates/license in software and hardware maintenance, PTC, ITC radios, CIS communication systems, FCC Comm License FRA regulations, signal/CADD/PTC failure investigations, causes and preventions. In-depth familiarity with FRA & CPUC railroad industry (AREMA) standards for railway signals, communications, PTC, CADD, BOS track, structure (including track in tunnels), RoW, maintenance equipment regulations, standards and practices and inspection and testing requirements. SCRRA GCOR and SMM qualified, Hi-Rail territory qualified on all subdivisions. Very good technical skills and experience (subject matter expert) on railroad signal, communications, PTC, CADD, BOS infrastructure inspection and condition ratings. Good verbal and written communications skills. Experience with labor management. Pre-Employment Requirements: Subject to pre-employment background check and motor vehicle report review. Maintain a valid driver's license and endorsements as required per position. Subject to pre-employment physical, medical evaluation, and drug screen due to the safety sensitive nature of this position. Successfully complete and maintain any required safety certification and testing on an annual basis. Physical Requirements: The physical demands described below must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential job functions of this role. This position will be physically demanding at times. This is a non-exhaustive overview of the physical requirements for this position. Lift and transfer weight up to 70 pounds for a distance of up to 100 feet. Work in extreme all-weather conditions; uneven surfaces; safety sensitive work environment. Able to walk on uneven surfaces up to 1 mile. Regularly ascend and descend an 18 step ladder with up to 25 pounds. Frequently climb on/off equipment. Regularly push/pull with a body force of up to 50 pounds. Use hands to regularly grasp or squeeze wrenches, switches requiring force up to 60 pounds. Must successfully pass color/vision examinations as required by the position. Must be able to hear and distinguish auditory signals as required by the position. Able to work in conditions with loud noise; work on/around heavy/moving machinery. Regularly kneel, bend, squat while transferring up to 25 pounds of weight. Regularly sit and stand for an extended period of time. Work in a confined access/space environment as narrow as 18 inches.
