HireArt is helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company hire a Fleet Support Engineer to be actively engaged in the operational uptime of the company fleet.
In this role, you’ll support the operational uptime of the autonomous vehicle fleet by providing real-time technical support, performing root cause analysis, and developing diagnostic procedures for sensor-related issues.
The ideal candidate is a technically strong problem solver who thrives in fast-paced environments, collaborates effectively across teams, and takes ownership of documenting and resolving complex hardware and software issues.
Responsibilities
Serve as the primary point of contact for real-time escalations for sensor-related fleet issues.
Conduct in-depth root cause analysis through comprehensive log review to identify and resolve fleet issues.
Develop, update, and maintain a comprehensive troubleshooting guide for technicians, incorporating newly diagnosed faults and their resolutions.
Perform hardware bring-up and validation procedures for new sensor components (LiDAR, radar, cameras, etc.).
Design and implement diagnostic procedures to streamline future troubleshooting processes, with a focus on sensor calibration and data integrity.
Historical review of vehicle/fleet data, including sensor data, identifying trends and issues.
Collaborate with engineering design teams to enhance tooling and improve issue detection capabilities.
Develop and implement effective countermeasures across the fleet to prevent recurring issues.
Define and capture essential data points to validate issue resolution and measure the effectiveness of implemented solutions.
Engage in cross-functional collaboration to drive continuous improvement in vehicle performance and reliability.
Willingness to travel occasionally within the U.S. to support various operational locations.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering
4-6 years of relevant experience in transportation, aerospace, or autonomous vehicles with a specific focus on perception systems and sensors
Experience with low/high voltage circuits, Unified Diagnostic Services (UDS), and experience on how to safely troubleshoot
Understanding of hardware/software systems architecture and communications to support in an operations setting
Ability to pass a background check
Embraces a holistic problem-solving approach to identifying issues with high-level vehicle functions and drives specific resolution into single components
Self-starter with the ability to build relationships across the company
Ability to comprehend schematics, electrical diagrams, and connector end views/pinouts
Willingness to work overtime as needed, with advance notice
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with electric vehicle technology
Experience with remotely supporting vehicle troubleshooting
Knowledge of vehicle systems and diagnostics tools
Experience with Linux and Python-based programming systems for fleet-level data processing
Experience with software that interfaces with hardware
Familiarity with networking, TCP, and socket programming
