Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital's (NVRH) Courtyard Café takes pride in serving homemade meals made with locally sourced ingredients. We are currently seeking a passionate Cook to join our team. As a Cook, your responsibilities will include reviewing the daily menu, special meals, and meeting schedule to prioritize tasks and ensure timely preparation of food items. You will also be responsible for checking and gathering supplies and food needed for the following day's preparations, as well as integrating cleaning tasks into the daily schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
Adhere to the supervisor/manager's instructions and follow the production guide and recipes for preparing food for patients and the cafeteria.
Present food attractively, following ServSafe food safety principles, and ensure it is served according to portion guidelines.
Collaborate with Cooks in developing menus for inpatients and the cafeteria, as well as creating recipes for all customers.
Assist Cooks/Associates in utilizing available food resources to develop new entrees for the supper menu and effectively manage stock.
Complete food safety documentation and assigned cleaning tasks as per the schedule.
To excel in this role, culinary experience or education is strongly recommended. A basic understanding of cooking terms and skills, including recipe reading, food measurement, knife handling, temperature monitoring, and recording results, is required. Possessing a ServeSafe certification is recommended; alternatively, the willingness and ability to obtain certification is essential.
