Job Summary The Buyer I supports the purchasing function by executing purchase orders, managing routine material requisitions, and coordinating with vendors to ensure timely delivery of materials and supplies. This entry‑level role focuses on transactional buying and supporting production through accurate procurement of raw materials, hardware, laminates, veneers, and other millwork components.

Duties and Responsibilities

Process purchase requisitions and issue purchase orders in accordance with company policies.

Obtain quotes from approved suppliers and compare pricing, lead times, and delivery terms.

Maintain accurate data in ERP/MRP system (e.g., Epicor, JobBoss, or similar).

Track order confirmations, delivery schedules, and resolve discrepancies.

Communicate with Production and Engineering regarding delivery schedules and substitutions.

Support Materials Department with vendor follow‑up, expediting, and documentation.

Maintain accurate purchasing and vendor records.

Assist with inventory control and cycle counting activities.

Preferred Qualifications

Associate degree or equivalent experience in supply chain, business, or related field.

0–2 years purchasing experience (manufacturing or construction preferred).

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Basic knowledge of materials used in millwork (hardware, sheet goods, laminates, etc.) preferred.

Proficient in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.

Physical and Mental Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and listen. The position is largely sedentary but requires standing, walking, using hands and fingers, and reaching with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to five pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to see and differentiate color and to focus.
