Responsibilities
Prepare and process weekly payroll for 1,200+ salaried and hourly union and non‑union employees (11 payrolls – 3 union, 8 non‑union).
Set up and terminate employees, maintain pay rates, and perform ongoing employee maintenance.
Review employees’ time input for accuracy and compliance with union rules and labor laws using ADP.
Audit payroll entries for discrepancies before submitting payroll.
Provide union monthly reporting to union contacts.
Maintain all payroll records in accordance with State and Federal requirements.
Respond to employee inquiries and complex issues.
Process wage assignments, court‑ordered garnishments, tax levies, bankruptcies, employment verifications, and unemployment claims.
Assist the Payroll Manager in developing, implementing, and maintaining payroll policies, procedures, and forms.
Assist with payroll‑related projects as required.
Reports To Payroll Supervisor
Qualifications
A degree from an accredited college/university is preferred or 2+ years of payroll processing experience in lieu of a degree.
Minimum 3 years of experience in payroll processing using a major payroll software (ADP, Paylocity, Paycom, Paycor, Workday, Gusto, Paychex, OnPay, SurePayroll, Sage, QuickBooks, etc.).
ADP Time & Attendance experience is preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel (VLOOKUP & pivot tables).
Detail‑oriented with a high degree of accuracy.
Ability to adapt quickly to change and shifting priorities with enthusiasm.
Strong problem solving, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a deadline‑driven, fast‑paced environment.
High level of integrity and confidentiality.
Physical Requirements
Custom duties require sitting, using hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaching with hands and arms, and talking or hearing.
Occasional standing and walking.
Frequent lifting or moving up to 10 pounds.
Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Sporadic local travel required.
Salary $65,000 – $70,000 annually.
