Job Description The Transfer and Articulation Project Manager and Analyst will lead initiatives to implement the approved recommendations of the SUNY Transfer Task Force to enhance the transfer student experience and streamline related SUNY-wide policies and processes. This role involves analyzing current practices, identifying areas for improvement, and developing and leading solutions to optimize transfer student support services in a data‑driven environment.
The Project Manager will also be responsible for obtaining, managing and analyzing transfer equivalency data, transfer metrics, and transfer student‑level data to support institutional decision‑making and improve student outcomes.
The Project Manager will report to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Transfer and Articulation and work closely with key stakeholders, including units within the Office of Student Success, SUNY Institutional Research, the SUNY Information Technology, and SUNY campuses. The ideal candidate will have outstanding project management skills, experience leading transfer improvement initiatives, ideally in a public higher education setting, and a passion for improving student outcomes coupled with strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Responsibilities
Manage projects related to transfer student data, ensuring timely degree completion and university policy development and implementation.
Lead campuses engagement and provide support for approved transfer improvement initiatives.
Use data and analytics to inform decision‑making and measure the impact of transfer process improvements.
Prepare and present reports on transfer improvement progress, outcomes, and recommendations to university leadership.
Develop and provide training and support to campus stakeholders to ensure successful implementation and adoption of transfer improvement initiatives.
Develop partnerships and work closely with various areas of administration at SUNY System Administration and on campuses; including admissions, institutional research, student success, and advising to understand needs and provide actionable insights.
Ensure transfer improvement initiatives comply with SUNY policies and relevant regulations.
Job Requirements Minimum Qualifications and Skills
Minimum five years of experience in program management in education or higher education.
Minimum three years of experience supporting transfer students in a higher education setting.
Bachelor's degree in business administration, project management, higher education administration, or a related field.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Attention to detail, flexible and able to work independently.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of higher education systems and transfer student patterns and conditions.
Experience working with descriptive statistics and large data sets.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in business administration, project management, higher education administration, or a related field.
Experience with leading student information systems (e.g., Banner, PeopleSoft).
Familiarity with leading degree audit systems (e.g., Degree Works, uAcheive, Stellic).
Experience leading analytics and visualization tools (e.g., Microsoft Fabric Platform and/or PowerBI, Oracle Business Intelligence, Argos, Tableau or SAS).
Familiarity with data governance and data compliance standards in higher education.
Additional Information
Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full‑time basis. VISA sponsorship is NOT available for this position.
Salary is dependent on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, training, and certifications. The range for this position is $80,000-$90,000 annually.
State Title: Staff Assistant (SL-4) and is part of the United University Professions Union.
