This contract Civil Engineer 2 position provides essential support to the Structural and Civil Engineering Design organization within Transmission Engineering. The role involves delivering design services to support capital improvements and general maintenance of facilities, focusing on site development, grading and drainage, erosion control, stormwater analysis, and ensuring compliance with local regulations and standards.
Responsibilities
Conduct site development calculations, design, and review for facility projects within the system.
Prepare, review, and evaluate designs for utilities, fences, gates, grading, drainage, stormwater management facilities, and erosion control.
Coordinate with environmental design teams to ensure compliance with standards and regulations for oil containment and stormwater systems.
Prepare and evaluate retaining wall design plans in collaboration with geotechnical and structural engineers.
Develop comprehensive final design packages for expanding and constructing civil infrastructure.
Identify and resolve conflicts between proposed work and existing infrastructure.
Support the creation and maintenance of design and specification standards.
Recommend and review critical engineering design parameters and methods.
Resolve complex interrelated problems and participate in developing alternative solutions.
Ensure specifications are compliant and technically accurate for construction projects.
Organize and analyze drawings, discuss project complexity, and provide time estimates.
Perform field investigations, special studies, estimating, construction inspection, and specification development.
Maintain, update, and revise design and engineering records.
Prepare and distribute design drawings, technical documents, and databases using platforms like MicroStation and Project Wise.
Convert existing hard copy drawings to electronic versions.
Document and maintain a filing system in compliance with requirements.
Ensure official records are accurately maintained for auditing purposes.
Essential Skills
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a directly related field.
5 years of engineering and/or design experience with diversified knowledge of engineering concepts.
3 years of experience in drafting using Bentley MicroStation or similar software.
Expertise in computer-aided drafting, including 3D design.
Experience in reviewing and evaluating design packages for conformance to specifications and standards.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Proficiency in Bentley ProjectWise.
Knowledge of engineering concepts applicable to regional transmission systems.

Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $41.00 - $46.00/hr.
