The Northwest Recreation Center is seeking temporary staff. All positions are temporary and include paid training. Most employees can work under multiple managers to increase hours and variety. The most important job skill is willingness to learn. Please note the positions below that interest you before applying.

Front Desk Positions
Mornings 5:45 am – 10 am Mon‑Sat
Afternoons 10 am – 4 pm Mon‑Sat
Nights 4 pm – Close (9 pm Mon‑Thu, 8 pm Fri, 7 pm Sat)
Sun 10:15 am – 2:45 pm
Note that some shifts may be flexible.
Recreation Specialist The recreation specialist works with the Program Coordinator to ensure that the program runs smoothly. Responsibilities include running practices for the Rookie League, refereeing games, scorekeeping, and helping set up and take down programming equipment. This position will mostly be on Saturdays with potential hours in the middle of the week for training or helping at events. This is a great opportunity for someone looking for part‑time work or someone wanting to work in recreation.

Responsibilities: Fitness, classes, Jr. Jazz and Adult Basketball League; nights and weekends.

Lifeguards Applicants must be 15+ years old, able to stand, walk, sit for long periods, pass a swim screening test, and lift heavy weight for short periods.
Shifts vary during the following time blocks:
Mon‑Fri 5:45 am – 12 pm
Mon‑Fri 3:45 pm – 9 pm
Saturdays 7:45 am – 7 pm
Sunday 10 am – 2:30 pm
Swim Instructors Applicants must be 16+, pass a swim screening test, work with children ages 3‑14, provide a safe learning environment, and follow program standards. Swim lessons are taught year‑round. Classes may be Tuesday & Thursday evenings, Saturday mornings, or weekday mornings during summer.
Background Check Information Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required background check through fingerprinting and enrollment in the continuous RAP Back program in accordance with current County Human Resources policy requirements.
Temporary Positions
At‑will, FLSA non‑exempt employee not eligible for County benefits.
Must work an average of 29 hours or less per week or 129 hours or less per month.
Not considered merit employees.
At‑will employees may be terminated for any reason without notice or pre‑termination hearing.
