Kern Community College District accepts applications for part‑time, hourly faculty pools continuously. Applicants who meet the minimum requirements will be contacted by department supervisors, deans, or division chairs. Applications remain active for up to two years.
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics
Or Bachelor’s in those fields and a Master’s in Statistics, Physics, or Mathematics Education
Or equivalent educational/experience combinations (submit APPLICATION FOR EQUIVALENCY form with supporting documents)
Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students
Degrees and credits must be from accredited institutions (Title V Section 53406). Foreign degrees must be evaluated by a recognized credentials evaluation service.
Knowledge & Abilities
Work effectively and harmoniously with colleagues promoting innovation, teaching, learning, and service to a diverse student population.
Work with students of varying skills, motivations, academic, and vocational goals.
Develop curriculum, including delivery via different modalities.
Participate in recruitment and articulation activities with local schools, colleges, and universities.
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Maintain subject matter currency.
Assess student learning outcomes.
Knowledge of computers and willingness to explore new technologies that benefit the program.
Knowledge of and commitment to the California community college mission.
