What You Will Do This position will be filled at the QPA Specialist 2 or 3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level. You will be responsible for ensuring quality requirements are incorporated into the organization, with regular contact with internal and external resources to execute responsibilities successfully.

What You Need

Demonstrated knowledge and application of nuclear codes and standards (e.g., 10 CFR 830 Subpart A, DOE Order 414.1E, ASME NQA‑1‑2008/ASME NQA‑1A‑2009 Addenda to ASME NQA‑1 - 2008, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Regulatory Guide Series or equivalent).

Demonstrated knowledge/experience in participant and support of quality assessments, surveillances, audits, and/or Non‑Conformance disposition and closure.

Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret various physical, mechanical, and electrical documents, blueprints, drawings, specifications, and schematics.

Above average written and oral communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of personnel across multiple organizations to solve problems.

Education / Experience Lower level (QPA Specialist 2): Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and 5 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.

Higher level (QPA Specialist 3): Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field and 8 years of related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. Post‑graduate coursework may be desirable.

Desired Qualifications

Experience providing QA support in nuclear or high‑hazard environments, including procedure reviews, readiness activities, and assessments.

Advanced knowledge of Nonconformance Reporting (NCR) processes and ability to coordinate NCR actions and quality documentation.

Experience implementing and maintaining a facility QA program, conducting document reviews, and supporting audits, inspections, and surveillances.

Skill in applying QA principles to enhance processes, identify deficiencies, and guide corrective actions across facility and program activities.

Proven ability to elevate quality issues, ensure compliance, and support overall QA performance and audit coordination.

Essential Job Functions Sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, stooping, crouching, balancing.

Work Environment Protective clothing & environment: Safety glasses or eye protection, safety shoes or protective footgear, when required.

Work Location Onsite in Los Alamos, NM. All locations are at management discretion.

Position Commitment Regular appointment employees are required to serve one year of continuous service in their current position to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory.

Additional Details Directive 206.2 Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2. This requirement applies only to citizens of the United States; foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance Q clearance (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance and obtaining such clearance requires U.S. citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances.

Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New‑Employment Drug Test The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new‑employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre‑offer.

Regular Position Term status Laboratory employees applying for regular‑status positions are converted to regular status.

Internal Applicants Regular appointment employees who have served the required period of continuous service in their current position are eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the required period of continuous service, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader.
