The Project Manager will act as a technical consultant in training while learning the ins and outs of the Vertical Transportation industry and getting hands‑on field experience. What You’ll Do: The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed in this position. They are not intended to prescribe or restrict the assignments that management may make.

Assist a team of consulting professionals in completing projects

Communicate with staff and clients, make decisions, and monitor the project’s progress to keep it on schedule

Manage long‑ and short‑term deadlines, including setting targets for milestones

Provide deliverables to clients and be a point of contact between our consultants, clients, contractors, vendors, and internal project analysts

Manage elevator consulting team projects utilizing various tools: Excel, Outlook, Cloud (SharePoint), and Deltek Database

Utilize interpersonal skills to collaborate with different team members from many other departments

Serve as a point of contact for projects and/or consultants

Participate in client progress calls and bid meetings

Ensure projects are reaching expected standards by performing quality control assessments throughout the project duration

Adjust schedules and targets on the project as needs change

Complete client‑facing travel 10% to 25% of the time

Learn to make the most effective decisions when presented with multiple options for how to progress with projects

Delegate tasks on the project internally and learn to work within the client’s confines of the scope of work

Develop aptitude, drive, timeliness, and quality of work

Accumulate technical knowledge in the industries that we service and provide Technical Writing support

What You’ll Bring:

Bachelor’s degree is preferred. Preferred areas of study: Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management

Strong organizational skills

Proven time management ability

Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical systems

Self‑driven / self‑management skills

Strong problem‑solving and attention to detail skills

An ability to learn quickly and understand mechanical concepts

Knowledge/experience in the construction/existing building trade

Experience with Bluebeam Revu

Previous Employment history (Internships or co‑ops included)

Solid written and verbal communication skills

Must be a service‑minded professional that takes personal accountability and initiative in getting the job done

Strong customer service skills, with the ability to defuse situations and resolve problems

Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and able to adapt quickly to changing priorities

Fundamental knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. Intermediate to advance knowledge preferred in WORD and Excel

Working Environment: This role involves both physical and mental demands and may be performed in various settings, including offices, construction sites, and confined spaces like elevator pits. Tasks often require frequent movement in multiple directions. Lerch Bates will provide reasonable accommodations upon request through Human Resources.

Physical Demands: This role requires regular sitting, talking, and hearing in meetings and by phone. Employees must navigate tight spaces, climb ladders, move around construction sites, take measurements, and travel by car, air, or rail. Duties may involve working at heights and in confined spaces, using hands for tasks such as typing and operating elevator components, and applying up to 30 lbs. of force. Close visual attention is also required.

Mental Demands: This position requires strong written and verbal communication, problem‑solving, and analytical skills. Employees must interpret complex information, apply mathematical and logical reasoning, quickly learn new skills, and manage detailed, multitask workloads under shifting deadlines. Regular interaction with executives, colleagues, clients, and external stakeholders is also expected.

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a pre‑employment background check and drug test. The drug test includes screening for marijuana, regardless of state or local laws permitting its use. A conditional offer of employment will be rescinded if a candidate fails either the background check or the drug test.
