How You’ll Make An Impact
Interpreting design from spec sheets and line art to create accurate, easy-to-use home sewing patterns that align with approved fit and construction standards
Drafting preliminary patterns by hand or digitally using the approved staple, then translating those drafts into precise, well-balanced drapes
Creating and marking principal patterns from approved drapes with accurate seam lines, notches, grain lines, ease marks, gathering lines, pattern piece titles, and design numbers to ensure patterns are clear and intuitive for makers
Reviewing and validating patterns to confirm construction logic, usability, and alignment with design specifications
Leveraging sewing knowledge to anticipate construction challenges and proactively refine pattern solutions
Adapting your approach across different garment categories, brand aesthetics, and project needs while maintaining Simplicity’s quality standards
Collaborating closely with Designers, Technical teams, and peers to ensure patterns are production-ready and creatively aligned
Upholding a culture of craftsmanship, precision, and accountability by treating every pattern as a reflection of the brand
Who You Are
A trained Pattern Maker with at least 2+ years’ experience creating patterns across multiple garment types (children’s, misses, men’s, women’s); experience with crafts or costumes is a plus
You have formal education or hands-on training in draping, flat patternmaking, and digital pattern development
An expert sewer with a deep understanding of fabric behavior, garment construction, and dress form dynamics
Detail-oriented; you take pride in clean execution, precise markings, and patterns that work exactly as intended
Technical, with strong proficiency with patternmaking software such as Lectra or Gerber (ASSYST experience a plus); you are equally comfortable working by hand and digitally
A clear communicator and collaborative teammate who enjoys working cross-functionally and contributing to shared creative goals
Flexible and adaptable, able to shift between projects, brand styles, and timelines without sacrificing quality
Personally invested in craftsmanship, you care deeply about fit, usability, and the end maker’s experience
Organized, thoughtful, and accountable, with a natural sense of ownership over your work and its outcomes
