Unit Assistant – Full Time Day Shift

Job Summary : This position is responsible for the efficient operation of the health care unit through demonstration of consistent organizational and communication skills. The Unit Assistant assists RN's, LPN's, PCT's and Physicians in the patient care process, monitors heart rhythms of patients on telemetry, interprets dysrhythmias and responds quickly, and may record and post rhythm strips.
Education & Experience
High School diploma or equivalent required.
Prior training in EKG rhythm strip interpretation preferred.
Completion of EKG rhythm education course required.
One year of clerical experience preferred.
Previous hospital experience preferred.
License / Certification None
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Knowledge of body mechanics and basic safety, principles of physical care and comfort.
Medical terminology training preferred.
Ability to resolve customer complaints and concerns.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Working Conditions / Physical Requirements Position requires sitting for 20% of the workday and mobility 80% of the workday. Occasional stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching; frequent reaching, use of hands and repetitive action. Requires occasional lifting or carrying up to 50 pounds, pushing/pulling up to 150 pounds. Requires clear diction and hearing sensitivity when speaking, continuous visual acuity at close and distant range, protection from weather but not temperature changes, minimal noise levels, extensive computer work, manual dexterity for keyboard use. Occasional exposure to risk of electrical shock, infectious disease, hazardous chemicals, and radiation.
