Sentara RMH Medical Center is currently seeking registered nurses to join our emergency department team who will have a primary focus on working with the behavioral health population. Ideal position for RN candidates who enjoy a fast paced, team oriented environment.
Location Harrisonburg, VA
Work Shift First (Days)
Pay & Incentives Sign-on bonus up to $20,000 for qualifying candidates. No contract required!
Education & Licensure
Associate’s Degree – Nursing OR Bachelor’s Degree – Nursing
Registered Nurse license
Experience Previous acute care experience preferred, but not required.
Duties/Responsibilities The Registered Nursing (RN) is responsible for performing a competent level of nursing care as demonstrated by the critical thinking model known as the nursing process. The standards of practice (assessment, diagnosis, outcomes identification, planning, implementation, coordination of care—including teaching and health promotion and evaluation) along with the standards of professional performance (ethics, culturally congruent practice, communication, collaboration, leadership, education, evidence‑based practice /nursing research, quality, evaluation, resource utilization, and environmental health) encompass the actions and foundation of professional nursing. The RN possesses clinical knowledge and skills to meet standards as required by specific clinical areas.
Transition to Practice/Nurse Residency Program This 10‑week TTP program focuses on the orientation transition experience with intentional knowledge support and skill acquisition for practice in Medical–Surgical areas. For new graduates, this TTP program is the start of a comprehensive 6‑month residency program to support your transition to practice.
Program includes
Formal delivery of fundamental nursing concepts and standards via foundational ENO (Elsevier’s Emergency Nursing Orientation) modules blended with in‑person sessions utilizing case studies, gaming, simulation, and skills labs
Exposure to Sentara policies and evidence‑based practice guidelines as recommended by the Emergency Nursing Association (ENA)
Hands‑on experience in the ED alongside a trained nurse preceptor
Opportunity to share your experiences/ networking with peers in a safe, protected environment
A series of virtual professional development sessions with mentoring (optional for experienced nurses)
