Christchurch City Council's procurement team is one of the largest in Te Waipounamu, the South Island. Our purpose is to support fair and transparent procurement, to help deliver sustainable, innovative and value-for-money whole-of-life public services. We are now looking for a Procurement Manager to step into this integral leadership position.

About the role | Ko te mahi nei You’ll play a pivotal role in shaping procurement strategies for major infrastructure and operations projects and services, ensuring value for money and sustainable outcomes during this critical delivery phase. As Procurement Manager you will:
Develop category management strategies and lead the collective response to procuring works, goods and services to support the Council's strategic objectives and maximise realisation of benefits;
Provide strategic procurement guidance and technical expertise to colleagues and business units;
Actively promote our procurement policy that includes embedding sustainable procurement principles into all our procurement activity;
Be a rock star when it comes to energising, empowering and leading your team to ensure high-performance delivery.

Hours of work - Full-time, two-year fixed-term contract. This is a unique opportunity to lead significant procurement initiatives during a period of transformation and infrastructure delivery.
Location - This position is primarily based at Te Hononga Civic Offices, 53 Hereford Street.
Salary - The salary band for this position goes from $126,230 to $140,255 per annum based on a 40 hour week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relativities both, within the immediate team and in the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
Closing Date - 19/01/2026
