The Parks Asset Management team is responsible for managing and maintaining a diverse portfolio of assets – from gardens and sports fields to bridges and buildings. We ensure the integrity of asset data to support evidence‑based investment and sustainable asset management practices.
About the role | Ko te mahi nei As a Parks Asset Inspection Officer, you’ll play a key role in the lifecycle management of Parks assets. Your mahi will include:
Developing and delivering proactive and reactive inspection programmes.
Conducting site‑based inspections, validating asset data, and analysing inventory to provide reliable condition information.
Updating the Council’s Asset Management System using GIS tools to maintain accurate records.
Inspecting structural assets such as boardwalks, footbridges, and retaining walls, and escalating urgent maintenance needs. This role is critical to ensuring our parks remain safe, functional, and enjoyable for the community.
You’ll bring:
A tertiary qualification (Certificate or Diploma) in a relevant field.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar environment.
Practical knowledge of carpentry or construction principles for timber structures.
Familiarity with NZS 3604, NZ Building Code.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Strong understanding of lifecycle of various types of assets.

Job Details
Hours of work – 37.5 – 40 hours per week.
Position – Full Time, Permanent.
Location – Te Hononga Civic Offices, 53 Hereford Street.
Salary – $67,635 to $75,150 per annum based on a 40-hour week. Starting salaries will be based on knowledge, skills and experience the successful candidate brings to the role, and relative to the immediate team and the broader organisation for the same or similar roles.
Closing date – 26/01/2026.
