Overview
Athletic Trainer/ATC - Fairlawn, OH (Full-Time) (Biotech) Responsibilities
Assist Physicians and/or Mid-level Providers in the clinic, hospital, and DME department settings. Fit and educate patients on Durable Medical Equipment (DME) as prescribed by the physician; assist with the application and removal of casts. Coordinate and advise on all aspects of the DME program including insurance and billing; act as liaison between staff, physician, DME supervisor, and manager. Assist in general maintenance of equipment, supplies, and exam rooms. Ensure patient forms are complete and current; enter information into the EMR; check progress notes and stat orders; prepare charge tickets and act on stat orders. Enter DME charges with appropriate modifiers based on insurance requirements; dispense DME accurately in the inventory management system. Obtain insurance authorizations for patient DME; explain coverage and benefits to patients per DME guidelines. Fit patients with prescribed orthoses including evaluation, modification, fitting, training on fit/function, and answering DME questions. Schedule DME appointments and send referrals to vendors based on insurance restrictions to ensure timely delivery of equipment. Provide back-up coverage and assist in daily office routine as needed in other areas. Monitor and maintain office equipment; order office and orthopaedic/medical supplies; clean, sterilize, and stock examination rooms; ensure cleanliness and restock within budget; report repairs or maintenance needs. Assist physicians and/or physician assistants with procedures; gather necessary equipment, position patient, and follow physician instructions; remove dressings and casts, apply casts and splints; educate patients on DME. Gather data and instructional materials for discharged patients; ensure patient is informed of follow-up appointment times/locations. Provide patient education on the physician’s plan of care (hand-outs, return demonstrations, etc.). Mark charge tickets appropriately for equipment and ensure supplies are given to patients; participate in in-services and departmental meetings. All other duties not specifically assigned. Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training or related field from an accredited university athletic training program. Experience:
3-5 years of demonstrated experience as an Athletic Trainer or related field preferred. Technical Skills:
N/A Certifications/Licenses/Registrations:
Current license issued by the OT/PT/AT Board to practice Athletic Training in the State of Ohio required; Certified by the Board of Certification (BOC), Inc. for Athletic Trainers preferred; BLS required.
