Facilities Maintenance – USP
Location: Richmond, VA
Job Type: Direct Hire
Pay Rate: Up to $27.00/Hour (Depending on Experience)
The Facilities Maintenance Technician supports the USP/Manufacturing work group at a manufacturing site in Richmond, VA. This role is responsible for installing, repairing, overhauling, and maintaining USP water room systems and related equipment. The position also supports general manufacturing and site maintenance activities while following current Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), standard operating procedures (SOPs), and all environmental, health, and safety policies.
Responsibilities
Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) on USP purified water systems, including pumps, vapor compression stills, ion exchange columns, softeners, and carbon filters
Locate and interpret information in operator and equipment manuals
Coordinate equipment shutdowns for maintenance with other work groups
Conduct routine inspections, verify proper equipment operation, and report deficiencies
Maintain maintenance vehicles, golf carts, and yard equipment
Inspect and drain outdoor storage tank spill containments per company policies
Offload diesel fuel to outdoor equipment storage tanks
Serve as the primary USP mechanic for maintaining water softeners, assisting with carbon filter changes, bulk unloading, and tank cleaning
Perform bulk material unloading, tank evacuation, tank and piping cleaning, and equipment sanitization
Clean and sanitize hoses, tanks, fittings, and perform passivation as required
Assist with pump removal, installation, and rebuilding
Maintain and inspect lift station equipment, including pumps, tanks, chemical storage, treatment systems, unloading processes, and heat tracing
Work collaboratively with other trades and assist with miscellaneous tasks as needed
Assist with recycling transport and snow removal when required
Communicate safety concerns, equipment issues, and improvement opportunities to supervisors or group leaders
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial facility
Basic mechanical skills
Experience operating forklifts and lawn or yard equipment
