About the Role Kitsap Credit Union is hiring a full‑time Accountant to work hybrid out of our corporate office in Bremerton, Washington. This position prepares accurate financial statements and related analysis and maintains the chart of accounts and prepares reconciliation of general ledger accounts to meet the accounting requirements of Kitsap Credit Union. This position will also assist with managing the investment portfolio and submit financial information to outside sources, as required.

What you will do
Prepare and present monthly financial statements for management. Ensure financial data follows GAAP.
Maintain chart of accounts in all systems.
Process monthly updates and allocations in profitability software.
Maintain credit union investment portfolio including processing settlement transactions and preparation of monthly and quarterly reports.
Manage corporate accounts and liquidity position to ensure adequate cash levels to support daily settlement transactions. Project future liquidity needs and maintain appropriate borrowing capacity.
Complete monthly general ledger account reconciliations. Investigate discrepancies by collaborating and communicating with credit union staff and management to ensure items are cleared in a timely manner.
Prepare and submit quarterly 5300 Call Report to regulators (NCUA). Maintain appropriate backup documentation and update Datalink software as needed.
Represent the Accounting department in various corporate projects to ensure successful implementation.
Provide support to KCU staff.
Gather and submit data to tax return preparer, prepare various tax returns and transmit tax deposits.
Prepare various schedules for annual CPA audit and regulatory exam (DFI/NCUA).
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business.
Strong knowledge of GAAP.
Preferred Qualifications
Four years of experience with a credit union in an accounting or finance department, or equivalent accounting or finance experience. This includes general ledger reconciliations, financial statement preparation, and investment accounting.
Experience in working with NCUA/DFI and/or independent auditors.
Supervisory Status This position does not supervise others.
Working Conditions
Must be able to remain in a stationary position for a minimum of 75% of the time.
Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machines.
Occasionally ascends/descends stairs.
Constantly positions self in work environment.
The person in this position frequently communicates with peers, supervisors, vendors and employees to exchange accurate information and answer questions.
Must be able to detect objects at a distance.
On occasion will move up to 20 pounds of office objects.
Works in an indoor office environment but expected to attend meetings in buildings that require travel in outdoor weather conditions.
