Position Description Permanent full‑time Master Level Diesel Technician to support our truck fleet at Ryder in Buford, Georgia.

Compensation

Hourly Pay: $30.50 per hour

Certification Bonus: $100 for each new ASE Certification, up to $700

Quarterly Bonus: up to $500 every quarter (four times per year)

Sign‑On Bonus: $1,750 at 30 days and $1,750 at 90 days

Schedule: Monday–Friday; weekends off

Hours: Second Shift – Monday 12:30 pm‑9:00 pm, Tuesday–Friday 2:30 pm‑11:00 pm

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (preferred)

Vocational or technical certification (preferred)

Basic tools required

Demonstrated aptitude and experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines, including routine preventative maintenance (oil changes, brake and tire work)

Basic diagnostics and repairs, including AC and electrical systems (required)

Three (3) years or more relevant work experience (preferred)

Valid CDL Class A (preferred; required by some locations)

All other certification as required by location (required)

Minimum 2 years of experience with mechanical repairs and diagnostics on heavy‑ and medium‑duty equipment (required)

Computer skills: PC, Windows, mouse, etc. (required)

Must be able to obtain CDL within 6 months after hire (required)

Pass a Ryder drug test, DOT physical, road test, background and motor‑vehicle check (required)

Responsibilities

Perform vehicle maintenance and repair duties, including standard and preventive maintenance

Diagnose complex mechanical and electronic problems using diagnostic computers when applicable

Complete complex mechanical inspections and repairs with minimal supervision

Replace defective components as instructed

Work unsupervised on most tasks

Perform facility maintenance duties

Interact with customers/drivers to determine nature of complaint once assigned a task

Utilize key functions of shop management system and electronic documentation

Comply with all federal, provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (safety, DOT, MOT)

Act as mentor for Tech 1 and Tech 2 levels

Demonstrate ability to access and use internal and external maintenance documents

Other support duties as required to support operations (e.g., Service Island support)

SBTIII trained within 180 days (SBT220)

Complete 2 of the OEM on‑line diagnostic scan tool software courses as required by location fleet mix (completed within 365 days)
