Estates Maintenance Craftsperson Electrical B5 - 37.5 hours

North Cumbria Integrated Care NHS Foundation Trust requires a highly motivated, multi skilled, reliable and flexible Electrical Craftsperson to work as a key member of its Community Estates Team based at Carleton Clinic. The role is to undertake preventative maintenance, trouble shooting and repair work to a diverse range of systems for NCIC plus other healthcare provider's sites that have a maintenance agreement with so that they are well maintained to ensure they are safe for the patients, staff and visitors who use them.

Main duties of the job The successful applicant will be involved in routine planned maintenance and repair work of the building and its services, plant and machinery, as well as fixtures and fittings.

The applicant must have completed a recognised apprenticeship or equivalent in an electrical discipline and be versatile due to the varied nature of the work, which will include specialist systems, fire alarms emergency lighting, nurse call, hot and cold water systems, heating systems, ventilation systems and medical gas pipeline systems.

The role of Electrical Craftsperson will be based on the Carleton Clinic site within Inglewood Building and be required to maintain buildings and services at various community hospitals, clinics and administration buildings predominately throughout North Cumbria. The applicant must be able to work under his/her own initiative and have good interpersonal skills both in working within the team as well as other staff areas ward areas and with members of the general public. The post is full time 37.5 hours Mon-Fri 8.00am to 4.00pm. The post holder will also be required to participate in an on call rota to provide out of hours cover.

Person Specification Qualifications

C&G 2357 Level 3 Diploma or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering

Recognised Electrical or Multi Skilled apprenticeship

ONC/HNC

18th edition wiring regs. -C&G 2391 Inspection and testing

JIB Certification

Experience

Must have post qualification experience working unsupervised either as an individual or in a team.

Experience of working on planned maintenance, fault finding and general repair.

Must also have installation experience on small electrical installation projects, such as : -Lighting and power circuits, fire alarms, attack alarms, nurse call units

Job planning and leadership skills.

Maintenance Experience

Knowledge

Sound knowledge of Electrical skills

Knowledge of 17th/18th Edition Electrical Wiring Regulations.

Understanding of Safe Systems of Work, permit to work systems and safe isolation/lock-off procedures.

Good understanding of heating controls systems and fire alarms

BMS systems

Skills and Aptitudes

IT and mathematically competent

Good communication skills with both the general public and clients

Be able to work in a lone environment

Ability to understand complex drawings, planning and prioritising skills

Able to present information written and orally in a clear and logical manor

Ability to work in a stressful environment and/or with emotional or aggressive patients and carers

Good understanding of mechanical and plumbing trades
