Job Summary The primary responsibility of this position is to greet all patients who enter the building, determine the nature of business, and provide assistance. You will schedule surgery and special procedures with physician’s offices to be performed at the center and complete insurance verification. Additionally, you will register all patients scheduled for surgery.
Position Duties
Call all patients scheduled for surgery preoperatively to verify demographics and insurance information.
Review the appropriate admission forms with patients via phone and obtain consents to treat.
Review financial obligations, collect monies if needed, and call patients the day before surgery to collect any remaining payments.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Function efficiently as a member of the surgery center team.
Provide assistance to team members, physicians, and anesthesia personnel as needed (reliability, initiative, work relations, training needs).
Develop communication skills and promote departmental relationships to ensure continuity of care.
Participate in ongoing committee and other educational programs to enhance patient care.
Verify patient identity in compliance with the Identity Theft Policy.
Required Skills
High school diploma or equivalent.
1 year of medical insurance verification (Required) or 2+ years (Preferred).
Ability to read and understand insurance explanation of benefits and managed care contracts.
Telephone and communication skills.
Excellent multitasking skills.
Detail oriented and organized.
Vaccination Policy USPI complies with federal, state, and/or local laws regarding mandatory vaccination of its workforce. If you are offered this position and must be vaccinated under any applicable law, you will be required to show proof of full vaccination or obtain an approval of a religious or medical exemption prior to your start date. If you receive an exemption from the vaccination requirement, you will be required to submit to regular testing in accordance with the law.
