What You'll Do As a

Senior Accountant

on the Finance team you will support the accounting function, including managing the month end close cycle, monthly compliance reporting, inventory management, prepare technical accounting memos, and lead the accounts payable team. This position will also help with monthly budget to actual variance analysis, annual audits and other ad‑hoc projects. You will report to the Controller and work closely with the SVP of Finance to improve internal/external financial reporting and workflow automation. We are looking for individuals who thrive in a fast‑paced startup environment, solving interesting problems and yet still maintain a great work/life balance.

Assist with the month end close process, including preparing monthly account reconciliations and analysis, preparing flux analysis and communicate with department leads to resolve variances, and assist with the continuous improvement of month end close procedures to shorten the close cycle

Prepare the monthly departmental budget to actual analysis and reporting, strong focus on researching transaction history to reconcile inventory discrepancies

Responsible for the compilation of all financial statements (monthly, quarterly, and annual)

Write technical accounting memos that support the company’s compliance with GAAP

Monitor and track the inventory general ledger accounts, including preparing monthly inventory reconciliations, preparing month end inventory accruals, and working closely with supply chain and warehouse operation teams to improve inventory process flow and controls

Lead the accounts payable team, including the improvement and implementation of inventory cost management procedures, and work closely with the Controller to develop inventory metrics

Track and maintain third party request listings (audits, tax, compliance, etc.)

Develop and train Staff Accountant and Accounts Payable Specialists

Assist in development and implementation of new procedures to enhance the workflow of the Finance team

Assist with ad‑hoc special projects

Who You Are

3+ years of full cycle accounting, and/or public accounting experience

Certified Public Accountant with in-depth knowledge of US GAAP preferred

Self‑starter with the ability to prioritize various responsibilities

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field

Experience working with inventory

Worked in a startup environment, preferred but not required

Experience with Dynamics 365 Business Central or other accounting ERP systems

Annual compensation review process

$90,000 - $115,000 a year

The base salary range for this position will be $90,000-$115,000. Compensation may vary based on the candidate’s skills, qualifications, and location. The Black Tux defines compensation plans using market data aligned with comparable companies at a similar stage and size as ours.
