As a Field Engineer Support professional, you will be the first point of contact for our customers (residential, commercial, and developers) for natural gas , electric, and joint trench requests; responsible for reviewing drawings for land/subdivision development, discussing existing layouts, and working with individual homeowners and commercial customers, making modifications to gas and electric services. In this role, you will be responsible for projects ranging in scope from large land development projects, designing utility infrastructure, relocating gas and electric infrastructure requested from the City of Colorado Springs or the Colorado Department of Transportation, reviewing individual residential customer service changes or meter relocations. Serving as a subject matter expert for customers during the design phase, you will be working in one of the most plugged-in groups in the company!

Complete pole attachment post inspections and support Colorado Springs Utilities Fiber
Complete communication pole attachment requests: perform overhead SAG calculations, verify existing attachment heights while calculating new proposed attachment heights, and complete pole replacement designs as needed by NESC and Colorado Springs Utilities construction standard and support Colorado Springs Utilities Fiber
Prepare construction drawings (AutoCAD) and materials specifications; ensure that construction materials meet specifications
Review drawings for land/subdivision development, discuss existing layouts, and work with individual homeowners and commercial customers
This work ranges in scope from large land development projects to reviewing individual residential customer service changes
Serve as a subject matter expert for customers during the design and construction phase, you will review contracts, understand, and interpret tariffs, and costs, prepare time and material estimates, and review and design projects using AutoCAD and other engineering applications
Analyze existing and proposed systems to assist in decision-making processes; generate creative solutions; offer new ideas and concepts that may impact efficiency and reduce costs
Coordinate with various departments, customers, and regulatory agencies
Work with various departments (gas & electric planning, maintenance, energy construction, QC inspectors, etc.)
Document information obtained as you perform pre-and post-construction site visits
During inclement weather, be involved in storm patrols to assist in coordinating efforts to investigate the nature of the outages

Engineer Support Coordinator - $46.62 to $53.62 per hour
Associate’s Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical), CAD/Design, Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a closely related field from an accredited university is preferred; or completion of an approved apprenticeship program
At least 7 years of experience in a relevant engineering-oriented field
Engineer Support Senior- $40.29 to $46.33 per hour
An associate’s Degree in Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited university is preferred, or completion of an approved apprenticeship program
At least 5 years of experience in a relevant engineering-oriented field
Engineer Support Specialist-$36.54 to $42.01 per hour

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
Exerts up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. of force frequently, and/or a small amount of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those required for Sedentary Work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a small amount, a job should be rated Light Work when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree or when it requires sitting most of the time, but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg controls and/or when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is small.
