Phlebotomy Technicians also facilitate the collection and transportation of other laboratory specimens (e.g. urine). Very often the patients only contact with the medical laboratory is with the Phlebotomy Technician. Many patients, from children and teens to adults, often find needles and the idea of having their blood drawn frightening. It takes a skilled Phlebotomy Technician to put the patient at ease while obtaining all the required specimens./ppA caregiver in this position works from 6:00am 6:00pm. This is a float position, you will cover multiple facilities on the east side (Twinsburg, Solon, South Pointe, Macedonia and Chagrin Falls)./ppA caregiver who excels in this role will:/pulliPerform blood collection procedures, follow venipuncture procedures and maintain appropriate log sheets./liliVerify order requests and identify information prior to drawing blood or collecting the specimen/kit./liliLabel all specimens collected and deliver them to the appropriate processing area./liliPerform specimen processing and send out tasks, including accessioning, centrifugation and packaging./liliPick up and deliver blood, other sample types and lab supplies./liliTravel to various locations within the enterprise./liliComplete and submit appropriate administrative paperwork and log sheets, such as time and mileage reports./liliBe flexible to work at assigned locations and hours that are in need of coverage. Location may vary daily and be determined with minimal notice./liliFollow proper laboratory safety procedures./li/ulpMinimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:/pulliHigh school diploma or GED/liliOne year of current phlebotomy experience/liliExperienced and proficient in blood collection from all patient populations/liliBasic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross (upon hire or within six months of employment)/liliCurrent, valid drivers license/li/ulpPreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:/pulliGraduation certificate from a formal accredited phlebotomy program/liliPhlebotomy certification/liliTwo years of current phlebotomy experience/li/ulpPhysical Requirements:/pulliRequires frequent and long durations of standing and walking./liliVisual acuity including the ability to distinguish colors./liliManual dexterity sufficient to manipulate blood drawing equipment and make measurements./li/ulpPersonal Protective Equipment:/pulliFollows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required./li/ulpPay Range/ppMinimum hourly: $19.25/ppMaximum hourly: $29.30/ppThe pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidates actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidates work history, experience, skill set and education.
