Instructor, Phlebotomy Training Program, Occupational Extension - Adjunct Lead role at Guilford Technical Community College. Teaching faculty support student success by creating an optimal learning environment, responding to student needs, managing effective instructional activities, modeling employability skills, demonstrating professionalism, developing cooperative work relationships with other faculty and staff, supporting college administrative requirements, and maintaining competency in their instructional field. Job Description Under the supervision of the Director of Health Careers, the adjunct instructor will prepare and teach Phlebotomy Training Program courses and collaborate with community healthcare partners to provide training and educational experiences in compliance with federal, state, and local guidelines and regulations. The instructor must be able to instruct a wide variety of phlebotomy subjects and supervise skill practice in both lab and clinical settings. Responsibilities Teaching : Prepare and teach departmental courses, including developing learner-centered lesson plans employing teaching strategies and instructional materials for different learning styles incorporating current technology in classroom and laboratory environments creating and modeling a quality learning environment that supports a diverse student population preparing, distributing, and utilizing instructional support materials, including course syllabi, supplementary materials, instructional media, and other devices as appropriate conducting appropriate assessment of student learning outcomes in courses and programs/general education Professional Development : Maintain a professional status that supports the instructional mission by participating in professional development activities to maintain currency in the field; maintaining current credentials or licensures as required by program or accreditation participating in professional development opportunities to advance teaching skills and strategies Administration : Provide daily & ongoing oversight of facilities, equipment, and student records, including maintaining classroom and laboratory spaces and upkeep of assigned equipment providing for the security of facilities, equipment and instructional materials and maintaining safe working conditions; maintaining student records (e.g., grades and attendance) in accordance with established deadlines using technology-based programs (e.g., Colleague, WebAdvisor, Moodle) compliance with all applicable college, state and federal rules and regulations Student Support : Provide an environment conducive to student success, including promoting retention/persistence by assisting students to develop strategies for success referring students to campus and community resources when appropriate conducting recruiting activities demonstrating and modeling the college's employability skills: adaptability, communication, information processing, problem solving, responsibility and teamwork Additional Duties : maintain student records perform all duties as assigned by supervisor Qualifications Education Required : Associate degree in a health-related field from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution Current Phlebotomy Certification from an organization whose credentialing exam is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) or the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Education Preferred : Bachelor's degree in a health-related field from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution Experience Required : Three years of relevant industry experience with administrative and clinical procedures routinely performed by phlebotomists Post-secondary teaching and/or industry training experience in Medical Assisting topics using any of the following formats: teaching courses, training sessions, conducting professional development workshops, and/or other continuing education seminars Experience Preferred : Greater than three years of relevant industry experience with administrative and clinical procedures routinely performed by phlebotomists Experience with assessment of student learning outcomes Experience in a community college setting Experience with distance learning and/or alternate instructional delivery systems KSA Required : Multitask Respect diversity Adapt to changing procedures, protocols or assignments Create and maintain a learner-centered environment Communicate effectively Ability to effectively implement and apply technology solutions KSA Preferred : Mandatory GTCC trainings upon initial hire and annually as required (Reporting Requirements, Discrimination & Anti-Harassment, Shooter on Campus, Personal Information Protection, Ethics and Social Responsibility, Linking Student Learning Outcomes, Moodle Certification if teaching online or hybrid) Bloodborne pathogen/personal protective equipment knowledge Emergency action plan and use of emergency equipment Documented negative TB test, current annual flu vaccine, CPR and other immunizations required by affiliated clinical agencies Physical Demands : Hear and see Lift, push, or pull 50 lbs Standing required for extended periods (up to 4 hours) Stoop, bend, squat, lift, reach overhead May include teaching day and evening and on multiple campuses Exposure to biohazardous materials possible; requires safe handling and disposal Other : Acceptable results on background screening consisting of criminal background check and drug screen if required by the college Posting Type Adjunct Faculty (Part-time) #J-18808-Ljbffr
