Job Summary Goodstone Inn & Restaurant is seeking a full-time Garden and Grounds Assistant to assist in caring for and maintaining ornamental gardens, container plantings, and landscaped areas throughout the property. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hands‑on horticultural work, takes pride in beautiful outdoor spaces, and wants to grow their skills in a unique estate setting.

You’ll work closely with the Grounds Manager on daily garden care, seasonal projects, and special plantings—while also assisting with light livestock care and property projects as needed. This is a physically active, outdoors‑focused role for someone who enjoys variety and working with their hands.

Garden & Landscape Care

Assist with the care and maintenance of ornamental flower beds, container gardens, and landscaped areas throughout the property.

Plant, weed, mulch, prune, deadhead, and water as needed to maintain healthy, visually appealing gardens.

Support seasonal plantings, cut‑flower beds, and garden projects (including pond and specialty garden areas).

Monitor plant health and report issues related to pests, disease, or irrigation.

Property & Seasonal Support

Assist with general landscaping and estate projects as needed.

Support seasonal tasks such as leaf removal, garden clean‑up, and winter preparation.

Livestock & Animal Care

Help care for chickens and livestock as needed (feeding, basic upkeep, and routine tasks).

Collaboration & Care

Work closely with the Garden and Grounds Assistant on daily priorities and long‑term garden goals.

Follow safe, sustainable gardening practices and maintain tools and work areas.

Preferred Education and Experience

At least 1 year of hands‑on horticulture or gardening experience (ornamental or estate‑style gardens preferred).

Genuine interest in plants, flowers, and garden aesthetic.

Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

Ability to perform physical work, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.

Reliable, detail‑oriented, and comfortable taking directions while working independently.

Comfortable with animals and seasonal projects.

Job Type Full‑Time position. The schedule may include weekdays and occasional weekends, as well as seasonal flexibility. Outdoor, hands‑on role with changing priorities throughout the year.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate verbally and listen effectively. The employee frequently stands and walks for extended periods, works outdoors on varied terrain, climbs stairs, bends, kneels, uses hands and fingers to handle tools, plants, and materials, and reaches with hands and arms. The position also requires the ability to occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
