Overview This position is open only to Department of Revenue employees. The Audit Division is looking for Senior Revenue Auditors (RA3) assigned based on current office location. Audit is a dedicated group of professionals committed to promoting voluntary tax compliance through educating taxpayers.

Duties As a Senior Revenue Auditor (RA3), you will perform audits of the largest or most technically diverse business organizations, evaluate business activities and accounting records to determine compliance, and exercise judgment on audit processes. You will rely heavily on electronic accounting software to test, analyze, and evaluate taxpayer’s accounting systems and define statistical sampling methods.

Other Duties

Perform advanced statistical and non-statistical sampling of data.

Prepare detailed audit reports.

Manage audit processes.

Design audit plans for large audits and mentor developing staff.

Assist with disputed audit adjustments.

Provide technical expertise in tax policy, law and legislative development.

Qualifications

Advanced knowledge of accounting principles, including financial statements, general ledgers, and journal entries in diverse business environments.

Proficiency in advanced Excel functions and formulas for data analysis.

In‑depth knowledge of GAAP.

Advanced critical thinking to analyze financial data and develop solutions.

Ability to research, interpret, and apply federal and state tax laws.

Experience leading multiple assignments or projects simultaneously.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to navigate challenging conversations and deliver unfavorable outcomes professionally.

Openness to change and autonomy.

Preferred Experience

Two years as a Revenue Auditor 2 plus four years professional accounting or tax compliance.

Eight or more years professional experience in accounting, auditing, tax compliance or administration.

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or college accounting credits with CPA eligibility, plus relevant experience.
