Emergency Department Nursing Assistant – 24 hours/wk (Night Shift 7 p‑7:30 a)

Schedule:
Part‑time, 24 hours per week, nights (7 p‑7:30 a), rotating weekends and holidays
Compensation:
$18.58 – $25.01 per hour
Responsibilities
Assist in patient care throughout nursing areas and safely transport patients via wheelchair or stretcher.
Act as an observer for patients requiring constant observation to maximize safety.
Perform general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient unit functioning.
Provide appropriate documentation of services rendered.
Respond to peak acuity and emergent situations as directed by nursing staff.
Verify patient identification with two identifiers prior to procedures.
Adhere to hand hygiene and universal precautions, using personal protective equipment as required.
Implement and maintain a culture of safety, including patient safety rounds and SBAR communication.
Use proper body mechanics and patient lifts.
Operate software applications required by the department and unit.
Maintain BLS certification and keep current knowledge/certification as required.
Preceptor for new employees, accepting and responding to feedback for improvement.
Comply with legal, regulatory, and ethical standards; safeguard privacy and security of patient information.
Communicate effectively and document information accurately.
Interact with sensitivity with all patients, families, and diverse populations.
Utilize interpreter services and online resources when needed.
Respond to hospital codes and emergency preparedness protocols.
Minimum Education High School Diploma or GED preferred.
Experience Previous nursing assistant or equivalent experience preferred.
Required Certifications
BLS – Basic Life Support (American Heart Association)
ACLS – Advanced Cardiac Life Support (American Heart Association)
Instructor qualifications: ACLS and BLS (optional but listed)
Required Knowledge & Abilities
Basic medical terminology
Basic computer skills
Effective communication skills
Ability to interact with a wide variety of individuals
