Job Summary The Maintenance Mechanic Fabrication role requires basic knowledge of general maintenance, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, electronic systems, and welding (TIG, STICK). Mechanics must follow all safety and GMP policies for the facility at all times.
Key Responsibilities
Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
Ensure all assigned daily PMs are completed.
Ensure production lines are in good mechanical order.
Aid other teams (Production, Quality) when needed.
Set up, visually inspect, and test machinery and equipment; tear down as required.
Listen for unusual sounds from machines or equipment to detect malfunction and discuss operational variations with supervisors or other personnel to diagnose problems or repair machines.
Dismantle defective machines and equipment and install new or repaired parts.
Cleans and lubricates shafts, bearings, gears, and other parts of machinery.
Repairs and maintains the physical structures of the establishment.

Minimum Qualifications
Must be 18 years of age or older.
High school diploma or GED.
Ability to learn mechanical systems and food manufacturing processes.
Possess the ability to function effectively in a team environment and interact productively with all levels of team personnel and outside contractors.
Ability to operate a forklift, genie lift or scissor lift or other powered industrial trucks (PIT).
Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to read and execute work orders, write daily reports, and translate equipment manuals.
Read, write, and orally communicate in English and be able to work with little or no supervision.
Flexibility to work overtime, weekends and holidays as scheduled.
Preferred Qualifications
Metal fabrication skills.
1+ years of related experience and/or training in an industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing environment; or 4 years’ direct experience in an industrial mechanical maintenance or food manufacturing maintenance environment.
Vocational Diploma, Technical Diploma or associate degree from a technical maintenance school.
Previous management experience in meat slaughter facility.
Bilingual English/Spanish.

Hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
Physical Demands
Occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds utilizing the buddy system or specifically designed lifting devices.
Specific vision includes close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
Frequent standing, walking, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; speak and hear.
