Facility Maintenance Supervisor (Mental Health Support Services)

Who we are Mental Health Support Services (MHSS) is the provider of mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance use disorder services for children and adults in Chesterfield County.
Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or GED. Five years of increasingly responsible experience in building and grounds maintenance, including journey‑level experience with HVAC and/or electrical systems, and two years of supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Preferred: five years of experience in apartment/residential building and grounds maintenance, mid‑level HVAC and/or electrical experience, EPA Universal, HVAC, or electrical certifications, vendor management, and contractor oversight.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Extensive knowledge of building maintenance and repair—including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and automated building control systems; ability to use specialized tools; ability to read and interpret manuals, specifications, drawings, and blueprints; physical stamina for demanding tasks; effective communication; staff supervision; computer proficiency in Microsoft Office; working knowledge of capital projects and vendor contracts.
Additional Requirements Current valid driver’s license and good driving record; pre‑employment drug testing, FBI criminal background check, and education/degree verification required.
Duties
Supervise, train, evaluate, and participate in the work of maintenance staff.
Oversee inspections, maintenance, and minor repairs of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, appliances, and building systems.
Ensure safety and regulatory compliance with safety standards, internal policies, local building and fire codes.
Manage supplies, contracts, and expenses within budget.
Schedule and oversee contractors to ensure compliance with policies, safety protocols, and standards of service.
Assist in conducting regular maintenance services and inspections of residential home systems.
Develop and organize preventative maintenance and safety inspection programs for facilities and equipment.
Communicate and coordinate with residents, staff, and management to address maintenance needs and priorities.
Perform other work as required.
Shift and Location Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Location: Mental Health Support Services, Chesterfield, VA.
