Role Overview The Controller will serve as a hands‑on financial leader responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and scalability of the company’s financial operations. This role partners closely with operational leadership to provide actionable, data‑driven insights that support revenue growth, margin improvement, and market expansion.
The Controller will oversee the monthly close, job costing, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting processes while helping lead the company’s transition to Mosaic’s ERP platform (Sage Intacct). This role reports directly to the General Manager and works closely with Mosaic’s Corporate Controller.
Responsibilities
Own the full-cycle monthly and year‑end close process, ensuring accurate results are delivered within a 5–7 day cycle time.
Ensure all financial records and reporting comply with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Prepare and review monthly financial statements, management reporting packages, and comprehensive variance analyses.
Maintain audit‑ready financial records through rigorous documentation and internal controls.
Act as the primary financial liaison between the operating company and the Corporate Accounting and Finance team.
Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and General Ledger functions, maintaining a high level of detail during the transition from manual entry to automation.
Drive the migration from QuickBooks Online to Sage Intacct, ensuring a seamless transition of data and processes.
Lead the transition to an integrated customer invoicing and billing system and implement automated workflows to drive operational efficiency.
Standardize processes for scalability to support the business as it grows.
Manage job costing and project‑based accounting for residential and revenue projects, tracking profitability against budgets, estimates, and average ticket sizes.
Partner with operations to analyze project performance and identify specific opportunities for margin improvement.
Develop and maintain annual budgets, quarterly forecasts, and rolling cash flow forecasts to support aggressive revenue growth goals.
Analyze trends, variances, and key drivers across service lines to identify cost‑saving opportunities and operational efficiencies.
Provide data‑driven insights and modeling to support the Strategic Growth Manager in evaluating new markets (specifically the DC market) and other growth initiatives.
Lead and manage a high‑performing finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of accuracy and accountability.
Support executive leadership with ad‑hoc financial analysis and decision support as needed.
Role Qualifications
6+ years in accounting and finance, including at least 3 years in a management or leadership role.
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.
CPA preferred but not required.
Prior experience in project accounting strongly preferred; background in Construction, Real Estate, or Residential Services is a plus.
Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks and Sage Intacct is preferred.
Self‑starter with strong ownership mentality, capable of identifying needs, improving processes, and driving initiatives to completion.
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
