Job Description Summary This position manages, drafts, negotiates and closes a variety of U.S. based sales contracts and master agreements, including Commitment, Rebate Growth Incentive Agreements, and other key agreements.
About The Role As a Senior Contracts Consultant you will manage, draft, negotiate, and finalize a variety of U.S.‑based sales contracts and master agreements. The role involves cross‑collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with company standards while maintaining a hyper‑focused customer experience. Strong communication, stakeholder management, and organizational agility are essential to navigate complex processes and maintain alignment with BD values.
Key Responsibilities
Facilitate internal and external calls to review and resolve conflicts and finalize contracts. Understand and effectively communicate the differences between agreement types and versions and ensure risk is mitigated.
Provide guidance to commercial integrators/sales regarding appropriate structuring of deals and negotiating contractual provisions that meet strategic goals on behalf of BD.
Collaborate with senior negotiators, contracts specialists, and SMEs to provide a best‑in‑class contracting experience for customers.
Lead multiple rounds of negotiating and redlining of contract terms, carefully reviewing and revising customer redlines and developing responses consistent with BD policies and business positions.
Work with Sales, Legal, Marketing, and other SMEs to balance customer requirements while protecting BD’s interests and mitigating risk.
Coordinate with other teams to ensure consistency with policies, procedures, and general provisions across all customer segments and to ensure smooth handoffs.
Help administer and enforce policies and procedures to harmonize contract negotiation and general provisions, allowing flexibility for customer/market needs.
Support process improvement projects (templates, standard terms, system updates, etc.) to drive operational efficiencies and standardization.
Update management and customers regarding project status, KPIs, metrics, reporting, and project risks.
Stay apprised of emerging healthcare industry trends and assess their potential impact on contracting and negotiation strategies.
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree OR at least 8 years of relevant work experience.
At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in redlining/negotiating, implementing business strategy, and building strong relationships with cross‑functional teams OR at least 3 years of the above experience with a legal degree.
Strong understanding of U.S. Antitrust laws and Sarbanes‑Oxley.
Strong understanding of commercial contract management, including strategy development, policy development, and standardization of terms within the life science industry.
Demonstrated customer‑centricity skills and consistent expectations across the team.
Strategic and analytical problem solver with business acumen.
Proven ability to quickly establish credibility, trust, and support within all levels of the organization.
Ability to partner with key stakeholders to develop contract offerings and articulate complex concepts clearly.
Ability to travel 10%.
Preferred Qualifications
Paralegal certification.
Medical device experience.
Project management experience.
