About the role As a
Senior Contracts Consultant , you will manage, draft, negotiate and finalize a variety of U.S.-based sales contracts and master agreements, including Commitment, Rebate Growth Incentive Agreements, and other key agreements. The role involves cross collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment with company standards while maintaining a hyper‑focused approach to customer experience. Strong communication, stakeholder management, and organizational agility are essential to navigate complex processes and maintain alignment with BD values.
Key responsibilities include:
Facilitate internal and external calls to review and resolve conflicts and finalize contracts. Understand and effectively communicate the differences between agreement types and versions. Ensure that risk is mitigated, and provisions are preferred or acceptable per company standard.
Provide guidance and influence the commercial integrators/sales as it relates to appropriately structuring a deal and negotiating contractual provisions and commitments that meet strategic goals on behalf of BD.
Collaborate with other senior negotiators, contracts specialists and SMEs to provide a best‑in‑class contracting experience to our valued customers.
Accountable for multiple rounds of constructive negotiating and redlining of contract terms and conditions. Carefully review and revise customer redlines and develop responses consistent with BD policies, business positions, statutory/legal requirements, and customer specifications, with a focus on speed to execution.
Work directly with Sales, Legal, Marketing, and other SMEs/Leaders to balance customer requirements while protecting BD’s interests and mitigating risk.
Coordinate across other teams to ensure consistency with policies, procedures and overall general provisions across all customer segments for BD, as well as smooth handoffs between teams and effective customer agreement terms and conditions.
Help administer and enforce policies, procedures, and processes to harmonize contract negotiation and general provisions, with appropriate flexibility to meet customer/market needs and dynamics.
Support process improvement projects (templates, standard terms, system updates, etc.) to drive operational efficiencies and standardization throughout the organization.
Work with team members to update management and customers regarding project status, KPIs, metrics reporting and project risks.
Keep appraise of emerging healthcare industry trends and assess their potential impact on IDN and other segment contracting and negotiation strategies
Required education and experience
Bachelor’s degree OR at least 8 years of relevant work experience
At least 5 years of demonstrated experience in redlining/negotiating, implementing business strategy, and building strong relationships with cross‑functional teams OR at least 3 years of above‑listed experience with a legal degree
Strong understanding of U.S. Antitrust laws and Sarbanes Oxley
Strong understanding of commercial contract management, including contract strategy development, negotiations, policy development and standardization of general terms within life science industry
Demonstrated customer centricity skills and consistent expectations across team, able to negotiate/adapt to customer needs while maintaining protection of BD’s interests
Strategic and analytical problem‑solver with business acumen
Proven ability to quickly establish credibility, trust and support within all levels of the organization
Ability to partner with key stakeholders to develop contract offerings representing complex concepts and defining the business value of solutions in a clear, understandable way
Ability to travel 10%.
