Capstone Copper invites applications for the Senior Accountant role at our Pinto Valley mine, located in central Arizona near Phoenix. The role supports the Financial Controller and ensures accurate financial reporting, compliance, and efficient close processes.

Position Overview The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing accurate and timely financial records that support the Financial Controller’s review and statutory reporting requirements. This role ensures the integrity of financial data, compliance with accounting standards, and effective execution of month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close activities while supporting audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
Position Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Close: Prepare and post complex journal entries, support monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes in accordance with IFRS, and prepare P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements.
Revenue & Cost Accounting: Prepare revenue journal entries in compliance with IFRS 15 and maintain supporting schedules for depreciation, accruals, prepaid expenses, loan balances, and other key accounts.
Reconciliations & Controls: Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts and trial balances; document, monitor, and improve internal control processes.
Reporting & Analysis: Prepare variance analyses, trend reports, and key performance summaries to support management decision‑making.
Treasury & Forecast Integration: Reconcile accounting revenue entries with Treasury cash‑flow forecasts.
Audit & Compliance Support: Prepare audit schedules and provide documentation for internal and external audits, supporting financial, tax, and regulatory reporting.
Systems & Process Improvement: Execute month‑end close procedures in SAP, settle work orders and projects, and identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency.
Collaboration & Finance Support: Coordinate with Accounts Payable and cross‑functional teams to resolve issues and support capital budgeting, cost analysis, and other finance initiatives.
General Accounting Support: Assist with fixed asset and project accounting modules in SAP, ad‑hoc accounting requests, and other duties as needed.
Position Requirements – Required
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
Minimum 5 years of accounting or finance experience.
Strong knowledge of IFRS and general accounting principles.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Experience with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast‑paced environment.
Valid driver’s license.
Ability to speak, read, write, and comprehend English.
Position Requirements – Preferred
CPA designation or equivalent.
Experience in the mining or industrial sector.
Experience with SAP S/4HANA and/or OneStream.
Experience supporting audits and complex close environments.
Work Environment
Hybrid office and remote work environment.
All candidates will be required to complete a pre‑employment medical exam, drug and alcohol test, and background check. All positions require a pre‑placement physical examination to ensure candidates are “fit for duty.” Additional training and/or testing may be required.
