Summary:

We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented

Tax Accountant

to join our finance and accounting team. This role is essential for ensuring accurate and timely compliance with all federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing various tax returns, conducting research on tax matters, and supporting management with tax planning initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Tax Preparation & Compliance: Prepare a variety of tax returns, which may include corporate, partnership, individual, sales & use, and property tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timely filing.

Tax Research: Conduct research on relevant tax laws and regulatory changes to ensure compliance and support tax planning initiatives.

Data Analysis & Documentation: Gather, organize, and analyze financial information and documentation necessary for accurate tax reporting; maintain comprehensive and organized tax records and files.

Provision Assistance (if applicable): Assist in the preparation of quarterly and annual tax provision schedules and related financial statement disclosures.

Audit Support: Support senior management during tax audits and inquiries from federal and state tax authorities by providing requested documentation and data.

Reconciliations: Perform tax-related account reconciliations and assist the general accounting team as needed during the month‑end close process.

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; commitment to pursuing a CPA certification or a Master’s in Taxation is viewed favorably.

Experience: 0–2 years of relevant tax accounting experience (internship experience applicable).

Technical Skills:

Proficiency with Microsoft Excel required.

Experience with tax preparation software (e.g., ProSystem fx, UltraTax) and tax research platforms (e.g., CCH) is a plus.

Skills & Competencies:

Attention to Detail: Meticulous precision in managing numerical data and tax documentation.

Analytical Ability: Strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills to interpret and apply complex tax laws.

Communication: Effective written and verbal communication skills for preparing memos and collaborating with team members or clients.

Organizational Skills: Strong time‑management skills with the ability to work efficiently and meet strict deadlines.
