Senior Accountant
The Senior Accountant will oversee day-to-day accounting operations, manage general ledger activities, and support month-end and year-end close processes. This role requires strong experience in inventory-heavy industries such as construction materials, manufacturing, or distribution. Expertise in cost accounting, job costing, and financial reporting is essential.
General Accounting & Reporting
Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
Manage monthly and annual close processes.
Ensure accuracy of the general ledger and maintain the chart of accounts.
Cost & Inventory Accounting
Monitor and reconcile inventory transactions and valuations.
Analyze material, labor, and overhead costs.
Work closely with operations teams to maintain accurate inventory records and reporting.
Job Costing & Project Support
Support the allocation and tracking of costs related to construction or production jobs.
Monitor project margins and flag cost overruns or billing discrepancies.
Provide insights on job performance and cost efficiencies.
Compliance & Internal Controls
Ensure adherence to accounting policies, tax regulations, and internal control procedures.
Assist in preparing audit schedules and documentation.
Support process improvements and risk management initiatives.
Provide financial reporting and analysis to assist business decision-making.
Participate in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify cost-saving opportunities.
Qualifications Education & Certification
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required).
CPA or CMA certification (preferred).
Experience
Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years in a senior accounting capacity.
Industry experience in construction, manufacturing, or materials supply preferred.
Hands‑on experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, Sage, Viewpoint, QuickBooks Enterprise).
Skills
Advanced proficiency in Excel and financial analysis tools.
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and cost accounting principles.
Detail‑oriented with excellent organizational and time‑management skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication abilities.
