Job Description As a Foreman on our Telecom Underground team, you’ll lead crews in the installation and maintenance of underground telecommunication systems. You’ll ensure safety protocols and project timelines are followed. This position includes work direction, coordination, and oversight of a crew of 2‑8 employees or subcontractors, managing overall safety, materials, reporting, customers, leadership, employee communication, and productivity. The crew may be responsible for trench & plow, aerial, drilling/bore, asphalt, conduit, or machine operation. You will interface regularly with customers and city inspectors, coordinate pre‑construction meetings, keep detailed safety and production records, perform as‑builds, and lead all crews. The ideal candidate will also be a skilled excavation operator and assist with permits, site safety, and calling locates.

What You’ll Do
Lead crews to meet project timelines
Shoveling, digging, handling and operating construction equipment
Excavation operations including operating equipment and transporting equipment if needed
General oversight over work direction within a crew or a group of subcontractors
Assist in securing site safety for employees
General maintenance
General utility installation/repair
Assist with as‑builds and ensure attention to detail and high quality work
Help with training of crew members
Read and understand blueprints
Help ensure everyone follows company safety policies, OSHA, and DOT regulations
Assist supervisor with day‑to‑day activities
Speak with property owners about work and resolve any issues
Safely use heavy equipment and machinery
Perform work in all weather conditions
Other duties as assigned
What You’ll Need
18 years of age or older
Authorization to work in the United States for this company
A valid driver’s license
Background check and drug screening clearance
Ability to attend and pass all required training
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent; relevant experience preferred
6–12 months of experience in utility construction, telecommunications, or laborer related work
Previous foreman experience preferred
Additional Qualifications
Proven leadership experience to direct workflow and produce high‑quality results
Demonstrated ability to perform job duties and responsibilities
Common‑sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or drawing form
Ability to solve problems involving employees, customers, and vendors
Basic mathematics skills and ability to calculate measurements
Read, understand, and interpret documents such as safety rules and machine manuals
Writing ability for reports
Effective communication with customers, coworkers, vendors, and public
Overtime, after‑hours, weekend, or on‑call work as needed
Travel within state or overnight as required
Regular and timely attendance is essential
Physical & Safety Requirements and the Working Environment
Stand, crouch, sit, bend, use hands and fingers, reach high and low; can lift moderate amounts of time
Moderate noise level
Exposure to outside weather (heat, cold, rain, snow, dust)
Lift or move up to 10 pounds routinely and up to 50 pounds occasionally
Potential exposure to dust, fumes, airborne pathogens
Exposure to toxic or corrosive chemicals and moving machinery
Vision required: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, near and far focus
Pay Range The Foreman Telecom Underground hourly wage range is $20.00 – $45.00, depending on experience.
