Pay Range $34.37 per hour

Job Overview RWJBarnabas Health is looking to add a qualified Mental Health Clinician in Somerville, NJ. This position provides clinical assessment, crisis intervention, evaluations for hospitalization, and crisis service coordination for children, adolescents and their families residing in Somerset County, within the context of the Childrens Crisis Intervention Services (CCIS) system.
Qualifications
MA/MS degree in social work, psychology or related field
Two years of prior experience/training working with children, adolescents and families in a mental health setting required
Experience/training in crisis intervention and assessment required
Must possess and maintain a valid NJ State Driver's License
Certifications and Licenses Required
BLS Certification from AHA

Essential Functions
Answer phones, e.g., hotline, business line, in a professional and timely manner
Communicate clinical information effectively with the Screening psychiatrist and unit supervision
Communicate effectively with other members of the health care team (internal and external), including the RN in Charge as pertains to the patient's treatment plan and disposition
Conduct a thorough ongoing assessment according to departmental guidelines in a timely manner
Provide patient care in a timely manner
Demonstrate professional behavior according to hospital codes in the Employee Handbook
Describe screening process and update progress of evaluation/interventions to patient/family
Document attempts to provide clinical information and obtain insurance pre‑certification
Collaborate with patient and/or family in development of patient care planning and discharge
Gather relevant collateral information and document it
Provide information to patient/family based on discharge plan/teaching checklist
Complete requests for off‑site screening evaluation and community outreach
Reflect clinical decision for outreach outcome per screening law criteria
Evaluate effects of interventions throughout the patient's stay and update the care plan per hospital policy
Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports in a timely manner (prior to end of shift)
Prioritize child outreach services (schools, homes, residential treatment facilities) and include follow‑up referrals from crisis units
Provide hotline information/referral/interventions that conform to screening guidelines
Determine most appropriate services/disposition according to patient's clinical needs, considering least restrictive alternatives
Document dangerousness and mental illness per screening law and DMHS certification training guidelines
Coordinate care across systems with provider agencies as needed
Other Duties as Assigned
Provide educational services to provider agencies, including schools, community providers, county/state DMHAS representatives, and others as requested
Represent CFCC position at County Childrens Systems Review Committee (CSRC) and Childrens Interagency Coordinating Council (CIACC) monthly, as determined by committee chairpersons
