WHO WOULD I BE WORKING FOR? American Indian Health & Services is a Santa Barbara based, non‑profit organization where we provide quality medical, dental, pediatric and behavioral health services to all members of our community. Founded in 1994, our community clinic has served the Central‑Coast’s healthcare needs for over twenty years. WHAT WOULD I BE DOING AT THIS JOB? Work Schedule: Full‑time, 40 hours/week, Monday‑Friday, non‑exempt
The Medical Assistant prepares the patient for the medical provider, takes vitals, assists with treatment/exam, performs vaccinations and IM injections. Other duties include updating patient charts, following up with patients regarding their visits, minor laboratory procedures, maintaining medical supplies and maintaining treatment rooms and equipment.
WHAT KIND OF EDUCATION DO I NEED?
Possession of a Medical Assistant Certificate issued by an accredited institution approved by the State of California;
A high school diploma or GED;
Current CPR certification.
WHAT TYPE OF SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE DO I NEED?
Fluent in English and Spanish preferred but not required;
At least one year of working as a medical assistant in a healthcare setting;
Experience taking vitals and administering injections required; blood draw experience preferred;
Experience using Electronic Health Records;
Ability to interact with patients while respecting cultural differences;
Ability to work and make decisions under stressful situations when necessary;
Ability to work with minimum supervision and cooperate with other staff.
