Behavioral Health - Care Manager II
Virtual: Full‑time with required in‑person training sessions for onboarding and skill development.
Base pay range : $68,400.00/yr - $123,100.00/yr
Location : California, Illinois (Virtual role; candidates must be within a reasonable commuting distance unless accommodated by law).
Key Responsibilities
Use appropriate screening criteria, knowledge, and clinical judgment to assess member needs and ensure access to medically necessary, cost‑effective behavioral health care in accordance with UM Clinical Guidelines and contracts.
Refer cases to peer reviewers as needed.
Perform psychiatric and autism assessment coordination, implement case planning, monitor and evaluate to promote quality member outcomes, optimize health benefits, and promote effective use of community resources.
Serve as a resource to other BH Care Managers.
Assist with more complex cases and participate in inter‑ and intradepartmental teams, projects, and initiatives.
Minimum Requirements
MA/MS in social work counseling or a related behavioral health field, or a nursing degree with a minimum of 3 years of experience in facility‑based and/or outpatient psychiatric and substance abuse treatment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Current active unrestricted license such as LCSW, LMSW, LMHC, LPC, LBA (as allowed by applicable state laws), LMFT, RN, or Clinical Psychologist to practice within the scope of licensure. Licensure is a requirement; for states that do not require licensure, a Board Certified Behavioral Analyst (BCBA) is acceptable if UM approval only, ABA services only, and licensed staff supervision are present.
Previous experience in case management/utilization management with a broad range of complex psychiatric/substance abuse cases.
Prior managed care experience required.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities, and Experiences
BCBA and LBA preferred.
