Location California. Virtual: This role enables associates to work virtually full‑time, with required in‑person training sessions. Candidates must be within a reasonable commuting distance from the posting location or have accommodation as required by law.
Schedule 8:30 am – 5:00 pm PST, Monday–Friday.
Overview The Behavioral Health Care Manager II is responsible for managing psychiatric and substance abuse or substance abuse disorder facility‑based and outpatient professional treatment health benefits through telephonic or written review. The role is part of the team serving the commercial employer population account and requires clinical licensure and residency in California.
Responsibilities
Use screening criteria and clinical judgment to assess member needs and ensure access to medically necessary quality behavioral healthcare in a cost‑effective setting per UM Clinical Guidelines and contract.
Refer cases to peers as appropriate.
Perform psychiatric and substance abuse assessment coordination, implementation, case planning, monitoring, and evaluation to promote quality member outcomes and effective use of health benefits and community resources.
Serve as a resource to other BH Care Managers.
Assist with complex cases and participate in inter‑ and intradepartmental teams, projects, and initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications
MA/MS in social work counseling or related behavioral health field, or a nursing degree, plus minimum of 3 years experience with facility‑based and/or outpatient psychiatric and substance abuse disorder treatment.
Current active unrestricted license such as RN, LCSW, LMHC, LPC, LMFT, or Clinical Psychologist to practice within California scope of licensure.
Experience in case management/utilization management with complex psychiatric/substance abuse cases.
Prior managed‑care experience.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experience
Experience in case management/utilization management with complex psychiatric/substance abuse cases.
Strong Microsoft Office suite experience.
Strong oral, written, interpersonal communication, problem‑solving, facilitation, and analytical skills.
Salary & Benefits Salary range: $68,400 – $123,120.
