Job Overview Senior Recreation Therapist to provide therapeutic and rehabilitative recreation services to individuals with mental illness.
Responsibilities
Modify activities based on individuals’ physical activity and rehabilitative needs.
Observe and record progress, responses, and behaviors.
Maintain records and documentation in accordance with program standards.
Design and administer individual and group programs.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in therapeutic recreation or a related field and 2 years of post‑degree professional experience in planning and administering a therapeutic program for populations such as geriatric, intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental illness, or substance use disorders; or
Master’s degree in the same field and 1 year of post‑degree experience; or
Licensure/registration as a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT) in New York State, or certification as a Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS), an Art Therapist, a Dance/Movement Therapist, a Music Therapist, or a Registered Drama Therapist can substitute for one year of experience.
Pay Base pay range: $63,361.00 – $80,655.00 per year.
