Outpatient Licensed Practical Nurse – LPN – LVN Position: Outpatient Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN/LVN).

Location: Fresenius Medical Care, outpatient dialysis clinics.

Purpose and Scope The LPN promotes the mission and core values of FMCNA, follows the compliance program, and performs all patient care activities under the direct supervision of a registered nurse.

Duties / Activities

Patient‑Related Responsibilities

Provide direct care to assigned patients.

Perform dialysis procedures, monitor treatments, and document parameters.

Report significant patient changes or equipment issues to the supervisor.

Educate patients and families on dialysis therapy, diet, medications, and end‑stage renal disease.

Administer IV medication per physician orders and state nurse practice laws.

Respond to emergencies, including basic CPR and other dialysis‑related incidents.

Technical Responsibilities

Operate all dialysis equipment safely and troubleshoot minor issues.

Maintain a clean, safe, and sanitary treatment area.

Follow blood‑borne pathogen control policies for spills.

Operate emergency equipment in accordance with standard procedures.

Staff‑Related Responsibilities

Participate in scheduled staff meetings and patient care plan discussions.

Act as a resource person for other staff and coordinate care plans with physicians, dietitians, and social workers.

Complete any additional duties as assigned.

Customer Service

Deliver outstanding customer service to internal and external stakeholders.

Seek and act upon customer service issues in a timely manner.

Build effective relationships through clear communication.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions The position requires frequent standing, bending, lifting (machines and equipment up to 200 lbs., water solutions up to 30 lbs.), and patient ambulation.

Work may involve travel between clinics and occasional corporate meetings.

A health‑care environment with controlled temperature, moderate noise, and exposure to infectious materials is typical.

Education and Licensure

Graduation from an accredited School of Practical Nursing (LPN/LVN).

Current state licensure in the appropriate jurisdiction.

Experience & Required Skills

Preferred: One year medical‑surgical nursing experience.

Preferred: Hemodialysis and/or ICU experience.

Successful completion of a hemodialysis training course.

CPR certification.

Will complete the Nurses Technical Training Program promptly after hire.

Ability to provide coverage during short‑staffing or as required.

Must pass Ishihara’s Color Blindness test as a condition of employment.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.
