Required Education: ADN. Required Related Experience: No experience required. Required License/Registration/Certification: Active Kentucky RN license (or valid Temporary Work Permit, Provisional License, or active compact state RN license in good standing) and American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers valid for at least 6 months after employment date.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift/carry/push/pull 50-100 pounds daily and 25-50 pounds frequently; stand, walk, and sit for long periods; exposure to potential hazards and infectious diseases. Shift: Three 7pm–7:30am, 12-hour shifts per week; some weekends and holidays. Job Summary: Wendell 2, 28-bed co-ed unit. Primary responsibilities include providing total, comprehensive, continuous and patient-centered care: assessing, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing, and evaluating a comprehensive nursing plan of care; delivering direct patient care; ensuring patient satisfaction; training and delegating duties for Nursing Care Technicians; adhering to University policies and procedures and regulations. The environment supports collaboration among nursing staff and physicians to improve communication and outcomes, utilizing the nursing process with a patient-centered plan of care.
Responsibilities The primary responsibilities for this position include providing comprehensive nursing care and coordinating patient care within a collaborative team approach.
Qualifications Skills / Knowledge / Abilities:
Knowledge of Maslow’s Basic Human Needs and Gordon’s Functional Health Patterns, Swanson’s Caring model; strong direct patient care and critical thinking; basic computer navigation and internet use; professional and respectful communication with patients, families, co-workers, and physicians; strong organizational, prioritization, and delegation skills. Able to work well in a team and independently with open, honest communication.
Does this position have supervisory responsibilities?
No
Preferred Education/Experience:
BSN; at least 1 year of RN experience preferred
