Active Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) license, Temporary Work Permit, Provisional License or active compact state RN license in good standing and AHA Basic Life Support certification valid for at least 6 months after employment date.
Physical Requirements The essential functions include the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 50‑100 pounds daily and 25‑50 pounds frequently; stand, walk, and sit for long periods. Exposure to communicable diseases, radiation hazards, and injury from patients or sharp instruments may occur.
Shift Must work three 12‑hour shifts per week (7A‑7:30P); some weekend and holiday work required.
Job Summary Provide total, comprehensive, continuous, patient‑centered care: assess, document, plan, implement, teach, develop, and evaluate nursing plans; deliver direct patient care; ensure patient satisfaction; train and delegate duties for Nursing Care Technicians; adhere to university policies, federal, state and local regulations. Support collaborative efforts among nursing staff and physicians to improve patient outcomes.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities Knowledge of Maslow’s eight basic human needs, Gordon’s functional health patterns framework, and Swanson’s caring model; superb direct patient care and critical thinking skills; basic computer navigation and internet skills; professional, respectful communication with patients, families, co‑workers and physicians; strong organization, prioritization, and delegation skills. Motivated, proactive, confident in patient advocacy, works well in a team, and can operate independently.
Supervisory Responsibilities No.
Preferred Education / Experience BSN + at least 1 year RN experience preferred.
