Job Summary This position, scheduled to begin August 2026, provides classroom, lab, simulation (as needed) and clinical instruction to nursing students in Fundamentals and Medical/Surgical Nursing. It utilizes hybrid and face‑to‑face methods of instruction and demonstrates commitment to student success for diverse populations. The faculty member designs course materials, develops and evaluates assessments within Examsoft or Canvas New Quizzes testing software, and maintains timely communication and grading through the learning management system. Academic support hours are required weekly, a minimum of five hours. When clinical placements are limited, the faculty develops equivalent learning experiences such as simulation‑based instruction, video‑enhanced learning, and other best practices.
Essential Functions
Instructs a diverse population of students in classroom and lab settings.
Implements the district written syllabi/course outlines and course materials; assesses student knowledge of subject matter and prepares and grades exams; maintains academic support hours to assist and advise students.
Engages in the academic life of the college by participating in district‑wide and campus committees and activities.
Develops and enhances knowledge of subject matter taught and individual training skills required to remain current with new trends and developments in the field and to promote the scholarship of teaching and learning through attendance at conferences, courses, seminars, and/or workshops.
Maintains student support hours to assist and advise students.
Maintains professional competence through lifelong learning.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduate degree in nursing and three years of experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care OR Graduate degree in any field plus Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) and three years of experience as a registered nurse providing direct patient care.
Must hold an Arizona registered nurse license in good standing or multi‑state privilege to practice in Arizona by the first day of employment.
Must be able to meet health and safety requirements including BLS, fingerprint clearance card and drug testing.
Desired Qualifications
Recent clinical experience in medical‑surgical, acute care, geriatric, physical rehabilitation, or other areas aligned with foundational nursing practice.
Demonstrated ability to teach and assess fundamental nursing skills aligned with the nursing program, NGN, Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), and the Arizona Board of Nursing.
Familiarity with learning management systems (e.g., Canvas), EHR training platforms, and simulation technology.
Experience using evidence‑based teaching strategies to support all learners, including active learning and simulation.
Strong communication, mentoring, and student‑support skills, particularly with first‑semester or novice learners.
Experience supporting regulatory and accreditation compliance through data collection, outcomes assessment, and program evaluation.
Special Working Conditions
Possession of a valid Level I DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card required.
Possible exposure to blood‑borne pathogens and other infectious diseases.
May be required to instruct at multiple sites and/or teach days, evenings or weekends.
Assignment may extend past the normal academic semesters.
May require lifting objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
May travel or be assigned to any MCCCD location.
MCCCD does not sponsor individuals for any type of work visas.
