Qualifications Position Summary The Nurse Manager is responsible for ensuring coordinated delivery of patient care in accordance with established standards of care, mental health practice and hospital policy, goals, and objectives. This position assists in contributing to the hospital’s philosophy, objectives, educational and performance improvement efforts while supervising House Supervisors, RNs, and MHTs. This position monitors staffing needs on assigned shifts, assists the CNO in evaluating, reviewing, designing, and implementing hospital training events for RN/MHT staff, and provides patient nursing assessments as needed. The Nurse Manager participates in Treatment Team meetings as required.

Education Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.

Experience A minimum of three (3) years of progressive nursing leadership experience preferred; one (1) year of experience required. Experience in staff education, educational concepts, practices and procedures, and 24‑hour shift staffing is required. Preferred: at least three years of Psychiatric RN experience.

Licensure Currently licensed to practice by the Iowa State Board of Nursing.

Additional Requirements Thorough knowledge of The Joint Commission (TJC), CMS, OSHA requirements, and state and federal regulatory requirements. CPR certification within 30 days of employment and successful completion of training in Verbal De‑Escalation and Handle With Care. Service Excellence Training within 90 days of employment.
