Role Summary The Phlebotomist / Patient Services Representative I (PSR I) is the
front-facing representative
for patients receiving diagnostic services. This role is responsible for performing high-quality blood collection and specimen processing while ensuring patient comfort, confidentiality, and accuracy. The PSR I demonstrates professionalism and leadership behaviors while working independently in a fast-paced clinical environment. This position plays a key role in creating a
trusting and positive patient experience
while maintaining strict adherence to established procedures.
Key Responsibilities
Perform
clinical and forensic blood specimen collection and processing
Draw blood safely and accurately, including
pediatric and geriatric collections
Prepare specimens for laboratory testing in accordance with established protocols
Maintain accurate records and required documentation
Ensure a safe, professional, and patient-centered environment
Explain procedures clearly to patients to promote confidence and trust
Work independently with minimal on-site supervision
Promote a positive image to patients, clients, and the public
Skills & Qualifications Required Skills:
Strong phlebotomy skills , including pediatric and geriatric collections
Ability to provide
error-free work
in a fast-paced environment
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Keyboarding and
data entry proficiency
Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
Preferred Skills:
Medical assistant or paramedic training
One or more years of phlebotomy experience
Customer service experience in a retail or service environment
Education & Experience
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent required
Certification:
NY State Phlebotomy Certificate required
Phlebotomy certification also required in CA, NV, and WA
Experience:
Minimum
6 months of phlebotomy experience required
1+ year of experience preferred
